Exciting New Pelican Feature - Need Feedback - Part II

Okay, so some of you may remember my post from many moons ago:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/397470-exciting-new-pelican-feature-need-feedback.html

Well, shortly after I posted that I bought a house and moved. I'm pleased to say that I am finally all moved in (well, almost), and I'm continuing work on this feature. Still looking for additional feedback, I've incorporated several of your previous suggestions into the final layout for the tool:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info_2008.cgi?pn=477-405-083A-M259#

Basically, I wanted each part to have something similar to a Materials Data Sheet that our customers can refer to and even print out if they needed. All of the information on that part will be kept in one spot and shared with the customer so that you guys can make informed decisions when you purchase.

Also, check out the Customer Reviews section, and also the "write a review for this item" link on there too.

Two features not yet on that page:

- Search forums for information on this part
- Ask us a question about this part

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

kits

wayne:
the kit idea is great.
Suggestion on rotor:
wheel bearings
lug nuts
and rebuild kits for the calipers when you link to kits.

Looks great Wayne! Lots of information at a glance with a nice clean layout. An option for larger pictures would be useful in some cases IMO.

I'm suspect of the review by Jerry Garcia ;) Seriously, I like it.

ella fitzgerald is a customer? - cool! i really like it, i do use your web site for research (the parts section as well as the bbs). other sites really don't have the info you need. the tabs are great because the pages load real fast. these features make me want to buy something.

i just thought of an small feature that might be alot of work but would be cool. it would be great if in the bbs when keywords are used they would link to the catalog page. so if we are discussing head studs the different types would be linked to the actual parts page in your catalog. just think, no more "where can i get that oil line posts!"

For those overseas looking at freight costs, the addition of weight details is fantastic - means we can keep buying up to the minimum weight for chosen freight method. Also helps with projects and planning - e.g. how much weight will I save if I swap from SC brakes to Boxter?

Love the other features as well.

I think the idea is very good.
In my line of work we have books on equipment that is segmented into sub-assemblies showing part numbers and quantities.
It makes finding the correct part number and extra parts you might need to re-assemble the module a lot easier.
If the data base that you are thinking about automatically links sub-assemblies to the area or part of the car, so much the better.
I can't remember the site just offhand, but there is one where , as you scroll the mouse over the picture....the sub-assemblies pop up and expand to show details.

good idea for your house too -- can keep a maint. log that way & also a To Do list (if your wife ever let's something slip...)

the maint log & to do list could also be a user enterable thing for our cars
