Motor Meister

Dear All

Ok I new to teh group and I have put down money a car that Motor Meister has rebuit the engine and clutch? Should I run and loss my deposit? Do they do good work or use sub standard parts? I think I know the answer.

Has any one had a good engine rebuit from Motor Meister?

look at the top right portion of the webpage and use the 'search' button. type in MotorMeister and see what comes up. I will be VERY surprised if you find ANY positive feedback. There are two other threads active right now with problems.

+111111, try and get your cash back even if you have to retain a lawyer to get it. When they change the oil in a motor it now considered "rebuilt" . Total Bull$**!.

EDIT: Are you buying the car from MM or a car that they did work on and is being sold by a private seller?
Either way, the sale should be contingent on inspection by a shop that folks here recommend. You need to identify what city you are in if you want a recommendation.

The car near atlanta ga. Even with a inspection can I trust them and there work. The owner of the car I believe he has not done any wrong, I not sure about Motor Meister.

If you can get copies of the service records from the seller, bring those with the car to a shop for an inspection. Make sure you do a compression and leak down.
More importantly, the shop can review the service records and can check (without taking the engine apart) if some of these things have been done. Some engines need specific items checked as well. You don't say what year car and engine type. The 2.7 and 3.0 need to have the cylinder head studs checked for broken studs, other models have their own items that need to be reviewed.
MM may not have actually done anything to the engine but charged the previous owner for a full rebuild, who knows. You have to know as much of the service history as possible and evaluate that plus the PPI (pre-purchase inspection) results and determine if the price is fair.
read this article: http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/technical_specs/911_guthrie_faq.htm

EDIT: check this thread, it mentions some good shops in the Atlanta area.

Use the MM rebuild, along with what ever else a PPI might find, as a bargaining point to adjust the price. Basically if you can buy the car at a price that allows for you to rebuild the motor then you will be covered. If the present owner and you don't agree to an adjusted price then you get your deposit back.

Do NOT trust them. Try to get your deposit back and run, don't walk, away from that car. There are plenty of good cars out there, and by good cars I mean cars that have not had their engine rebuilt by Motor Meister.

Just how large of a deposit are we talking about here??? If it is anything like $500.00, or even more, if you can't get it back, walk away from it. $500.00 is one hand of blackjack, and the odds are better playing blackjack, than getting tied up with that engine. But... maybe the seller, just bought a MM fan housing sticker, cuz they thought it looked "cool"... very UNCOOL. Good luck!! Tony.
