Heater Blower Delete

Guys my 911 has had the heat exchangers removed although the hoses from them still run from the holes in the bottom of the engine compartment to the heater blower. What I want to know is
1 Does the heater blower serve any other function then to feed heat to the cabin?
2 Can I remove the entire heater blower without affecting engine cooling? Maybe a stupid question.

Search for heater backdate. This is a popular mod which gets rid of the heater blower. In your case, since you got rid of heat exchangers (I suppose you run headers), all you need is to put a block off plate on the left side. The cooling will be better. This is the configuration found on race motors.

If your heater in your 911 is not working or is disabled, then you might want to install what is commonly known as an air block-off plate on the side of the engine fan. Towards the left side of the engine, there is an air outlet that drives the heating system for the car. On the early cars, this flow of air was the only mechanism to push air into the passenger compartment. This arrangement didn’t provide adequate warm air flow and in later years, Porsche installed an additional blower motor in the engine compartment. If your heater system is not working or disabled (as it usually is on a track car), then a good upgrade is to replace your heater air-flow plate with a block-off plate. This block-off plate does exactly what its name implies. It blocks the flow of air, and thus diverts it back over the cylinders, where it can cool the car.

I realize it's subjective, but in my case after removing the blower in the engine compartment and the auxilary blowers in the passengers footwells (Carrera), my car can still "roast you" and I don't miss them one bit .

Thanks for the info just what I wanted to hear. yes I have headers. I am not however about to spend $120 on two plates especially one made from fibreglass, I have the skills to fabricate my own so thats excatly what I will do. Any ideas on the wiring/plug connection for the blower can this just be disconnected?

don't remember exactly..

when i stripped useless wires i just removed blower section of harness.

you may also have some clutter on the electrical panel.. as long as you're in there

ditto

my toes will burn if I'm wearing sandals.. but SSI delivers more heat to cabin than stock exchangers

and the occasional stop light fog needs only a quick wipe on glass that you can reach almost whole.
