Another V1 install

I think this is at least somewhat slick as a mount for a V1 remote display. At any rate, I was proud of myself for coming up with it. Heckle as you will.:p

The remote display did not fit in my ashtray except flat, which made it difficult to see. So, I mounted it on a hacksaw blade (heated to remove temper, teeth ground off). Best of all, it's completely reversible.

When I push the ashtray closed, the remote display gets pushed down flat and fits just fine. (Index finger used for illustrative purposes only)

Very nice. Where did you mount the V1 and how did you run the wires?

V1 is just clipped to my visor so I can remove it easily. Wires run up the passenger door (shoved in behind the weatherstrip), and then transfer to being stuffed into the windshield seal lip at the top of the A-pillar. The thin phone wire fits quite well.

Always 4 years behind the times ... I am a search-lazy person. Serves me right!:D

... though that ash tray looks different than mine - I don't think it would have worked for me. Mine slides inside a plastic housing of sorts along an arc-shaped track. So it gets pulled out from the dash towards the driver. The "original" (2004 version) one looks like it is hinged, and drops down below the dash.

I just velcroed the remote display to the knee pad by my left knee. I have a 968CS wheel (three spoke) so I see the display in the bottom left of the steering wheel. I like your install - creative.

I have had mine there since I bought the car four years ago.

Looks like they redesigned it for no apparent reason. Porsche seems to do that a lot, they have a useable design and since they aren't adding more HP or different suspension, the do little stuff.

FWIW, I actually moved the remote to the top of the steering column now. I have my XM roady 2 clamped onto the ash tray.
