new wheel for the '66 - opinions?

I had this old steering wheel that came on the '66. it's marked 'made in france', and has 'GT' on the horn button. anyone know what it is?

anyway, I dug it out because a guy was interested in it, then I had an idea. so I took a 3-prong center cap, sanded it down to 800 grit, and after a bit of judicious bending of the tabs to make it click into place, voila' ! sort of a rally/R kind of look. waddya think? Don.

I think it looks good, a little small for my taste, I would re-paint the center metal section and recondition the outter leather and you would have real nice looker there.

It's a Formuling France steering wheel. I bought one of those for a BMW 2002tii back in the late '70s.

sadly, the outer covering is a fabric, not leather.
