What to use to clean LLoyd's Floor Mats?

What do you use to clean the carpet mats made by LLoyds? Any particular brand or product?

Anyone have anything they know should be avoided?

Put in warm washing machine with about 1/2 the normal soap (no bleach of course). Lay flat in driveway for a few hours in the sun to dry, or place there for an hour or so to partially dry, then put in car & mould to floor so they'll dry that way & look more "crisp".

I have to believe that putting them in a washing machine would not be good for the backing.

I have a small carpet cleaning machine from Bissell, and put the mats out on the garage floor and use that to clean them.

If I didn't have access to a carpet cleaner, I'd put them out on the driveway and vacuum them to get the loose dirt out. Then I'd hose them down and take a soft brush and a mild soap solution and try to brush out as much of the remaining dirt as possible. Then I'd hose them down again until no soap appeared to come out of the mats. Then I'd take them off the driveway and put them on something that would allow air to flow over the front and back (like draping them over a patio chair). Only when there were dry would I put them back in the car. Under no circumstances would I put them back while they were wet or damp. Doing so risks color transfer from the mats to the carpet.

If your matts are in good shape, the backing will hold up. Slightly damp mats will dry out in a few hours inside a car with cracked windows.

I've been doing this for 20+ years, never seen any reason why you would'nt want to do this. I win shows too.

Woah...the manufacturer says to scrub them gently with some warm water and mild soap. They say dish detergent will work fine. Then they say to rinse but that you will not need to use alot of water.Once dry they suggest vaccuming to raISE THE PILE A BIT.I just happened to read the cleaning instructions today that came in their literature pack that they send with new mats. so I guess this would be...their two cents...peace,john

Hold'em up & beat'em with a stick a few times. Lay'em out on the driveway, soak'em & scrub'em with laundry detergent. Blast 'em with a garden hose until all the soap foam is gone. Hang'em up vertical with clothes pins, let'em drip dry & then rough up the nap with a bristle brush.

Folex works awesome. I've yet to have any problems at all and it's gotten everything out that I have thrown at it.

Thanks for all the tips, guys. Looks like these things are pretty durable.

I just washed them with dish soap (Dawn Concentrate) and they are drying out on the deck now. Came out fine.
