Loss of Power and Black soot

Hello. everyone

I need your help!

I have a 86 carrera 3.2, and I had the valves adjusted 3 weeks ago and it seems that I have lost some power especially when I am shifting to third and fourth gear. Their is black soot on left and right side of the rear bumper.

Thanks,

jinkatin

Check the cylinder head temperature sender, the old style one can fail and engine will run too rich.

Pull off the white wire connector (left side of engine, above the two black reference sensor connectors) and have a look at the wiring plug on the engine, if it only has one terminal, it's the old one and should be updated.

Pelican sells the update one.

You should also check the date of the fuel pump/DME relay (under the driver's seat) if original replace with new.
