The dealership I bought the car from ordered the chip and installed it. The would have ordered a chip for a Porsche with North American engine specs, since I have been educated a little more on my Carrera, and now know that even though it is a RoW Carrera, it has the 217hp American spec engine in it. I WISH it had the Euro engine in it though! Can't have everything.

There are quite a few Japanese spec cars in this area (lower mainland of BC) and I have only ever seen LHD examples. In Canada we are allowed to import Japanese sourced cars if they are over 15 years old, that is as opposed to the US where they need to be 25 or more. I'm not sure why in a RHD drive country they seemed to have only brought in LHD examples. As was said before, the Japanese spec cars have a lower compression motor with more pollution control equipment....seems to be exactly the same as North American spec cars. Some (if not all) of the other "Euro" cosmetics seem to be there however (lights, rear bumpers, etc.). My 85 Euro ROW also has a transmission cooler in it's 915 tranny. The G-50 didn't have one, or need one for that matter, but I believe the 915 trannnys from Japan did not come with the cooler. Good luck and have a great time with her.

I have noticed that almost all cars imported into Japan have the steering wheel on the side of the native manufacturing country - LHD for German and US cars, RHD for UK or Australian.
I have also noticed that they often have some other unique things like the funky back seat with the upholstery continuing from the base up and over the transmission hump. The lighting seems to be in line with Euro specs (RHD) while the engine the engines appear to fall in line with NA models.
