First Impressions
Well I found out yesterday that our local dealer just got in two '09 Carrera's both with PDK. So this evening after work I took the '73 for a drive and stopped in to check them out.
It was a pleasant Florida evening for a change not oppressively hot. The visual changes on the '09 are pretty subtle upon quick inspection. I took the car for a short spin but spent much of the drive talking with the salesman and not really focusing on the car. Maybe it was just a combination of an unfamiliar car, and the distraction of talking with the salesman but It didn't make a big impression on me. First gear was gone in a flash but the speed after shifting to second was nothing all that impressive as I recall. I enjoyed the drive home way more....That was still magical and it got me to thinking that with an MSRP of $85K for the '09 my '73T should be worth at least that much

Hard to beat a 1st gen 911 for sheer driving fun (now that they own VW, will Porsches have Fahrvergnuegen?). Of course, most folks here are likely to agree ... as long as the BMW club doesn't visit ...
I'd have a hard time enjoying anything approaching 6 figures in acquisition cost - I'd be too scared to harm it, so I'd never drive it. At least at my current and projected future income level.
