How to find car's VIN# using engine #

Does anyone know how to get a car's VIN# if all you had for reference is the engine#? The reason I ask is because my 1995 993 3.6L engine installed in my 1974S chassis just fried the engine wiring harness. I don't believe it was replaced under the Porsche recall. I think that Porsche will give me a good deal on a factory replacement as long as I can give them the vin # of a car that hasn't had the recall done.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Rich

The only way you can get that is through Porsche. You might call and ask if they have a 'reverse' search. Usually, you have the VIN and the Cardex or COA will confirm the engine number it left the factory with.
