G50 clutch pedal mystery

Yesterday morning I decided to drive my 87 g50 Carrera to work. When I got in the car I found that my clutch pedal was jammed forward and I could not put the car in gear. Since I was running late I decided to leave it until later. Today, I pulled the pedal back and was then able to engage the clutch. Thinking it might be the pedal cluster I removed the floorboard and saw that the bushings looked fine and that the pedals were now working normally. However, I noticed that the boot on the master cylinder was slightly torn. I checked the brake fluid in the trunk and it looked normal –nothing leaking into the floorboard or under the car. Does the rubber boot serve any purpose other than keeping grime out of the master cylinder? I am now wondering if some pebbles or something caught in the pedal cluster and locked it up.

I had the same problem before. It occured several time during the year then one day it decided to stop working (pedal on the floor) and there is no pressure even I use my toe to pick it up.
Turn out to be the slave cylinder. It was leaking a little, therefore the symtom was there. When it leak more, it's stopped working. Replace the slave, problem gone.
The slave is on top of your G50 tranny, where it come in tact with the engine. If you lay on the driver side, you can see it. You can even see it from outside if you take the rear left wheel off.

Correction

There now is a small puddle of clear liquid under the tranny. My guess is that it is the slave cylinder. Anyone replaced one of these? From what I have read on the board a partial tranny/engine drop is required to access the unit. I am thinking this one might require a trip to Dallas -if I can get it there.

binggo, I had that too. That is the clutch fluid leaking out from the slave, to inside the tranny bell housing and drip down to the center.

I'd replace the rear line as well as the slave. It makes the job easier, and you might as well replace the line while you're there. You can do it without dropping the motor.
