Stuck oil cap, feel stupid
No amount of pushing, turning or some combination will release the cap. Any ideas? I mean, I'm not dumb, this is a car I've turbo'd myself, but I can't get the f'ing thing off...

Try a strap wrench on it when the car is stone cold.
A small amount of penetrating oil around the cap. Did you use your kung fu grip to put it on?

No, it turns and the internal spring works, but I can't get it to release from the tube...

If you havent already, try tapping on it, I think someting inside the cap is stuck on something else in the filler neck. I think a strap wrench or anything applying too much force will twist your filler neck, I assume it's been off recently, if it wont come off you'll have to dismantle the cap, I have never done it but it has been done.

Does it keep turning or does it go from tight to stop?
There are only three indents on the cap that are part of the outer cap, so it seems that either the cap has deformed or the neck of the filler. If it does run into the stops when turning CCW, try prying the cap off at different points on the cap (by hand) when it hits the stops. I can't think of anything else to do that won't, as mentioned before, damage the filler neck of your tank...

worst case - cut a slit and use tin snips - do not get metal particles in oil
you can do it w/o damage to the filler neck of your tank |
