How to cut braided oil lines

I know this is a dumb question, but installing used aux oil cooler lines , They are braided rubber with stainless inside. I need to trim a piece off one but trashed it using my method .........Obviously there is a method or tool to do this cleanly. Any help would be appreciated.

I wrap the area to be cut in masking tape and use a Dremel with a cutting disk.

Yup, wrap with Duct tape and use a Dremel or air powered cut off wheel.

You can use a hacksaw but these methods work much better.

Out in the field Ive never had any problems wrapping it 3 or 4 times around with electrical tape, put in a vice and saw the excess out of the vice with a fine tooth hacksaw

I prefer electrical FRICTION tape, the stuff that looks like cloth. Duct and vinyl tape tends to heat up and leave a residue. Three four turns....some ferrels can be sliped on, then shoved down the braided line. Do the cut, pull the tape, slide the ferrel to the end, assemble.

Thanks guys ......Learned a couple tricks .......The fine tooth hacksaw would have saved me the mess I created. All helped so I am well covered ...Thanks again.
