Can paint remover be used for cleaning the case?

Hello,
I have read from the old post that paint remover will not harm anodize but can I use it to clean the inside of the engine case when do the rebuild?

I did on the perimeter sealing edge on the outside of the case to get rid of the old sealing compound. It worked well. Use a soft plastic scraper to scrape the goo to the outside of the case when you clean it.

I would not use it in the case though. I left the brown color on the inside alone.
