My silk purse

First I must apologize for being pretty much a lurker here for the past couple of years....and I feel prompted to add my experience to the forum after reading some of the recent threads, and an article in Sept Excellence....

I bought my first 911sc, sight unseen and while I was out of the country. Hmmmm, doesn't sound like a good thing to do now that I have written this....but it is what I did. I had the car picked up for me, out of state of course, and delivered to my house. Over the next year I did a very complete and detailed cosmetic restoration. From new paint to complete new interior, every rubber seal replaced, instruments restored by North Hollywood, Fuchs restored by Wheel Enhancement, etc etc etc... I have attached some pics for I have learned Pelicans MUST HAVE PICS!!!

Anyway, I have read many threads concerning pricing and to restore or not to restore etc. In my case the situation was very simple, and fortunately I had the money, I wanted the car that I use to dream about when I was in my early 20's...all of my decisions were based on passion not investment or history...just a love of this model Porsche. For me this was the driving issue, I wanted a brand new 1983 911sc. Just that simple. Foolish, perhaps, but I now have what I wanted and plan to keep this car for many years to come. Thanks to all the pelicans that have given me lots of help, whether you knew it or not!!!! And I guess my message here is don't underestimate peoples passion for these cars!!

Beautiful SC!!! Passion for these things, never underestimated, though possibly (in my situation as well) over persued to perfection, not a single thing wrong with that!!! Please enjoy it as much as possible, for there you will find the reason (possibly). Love the 911, looks terrific!

Beautiful car (And I have seen it in person)! I especially like how you have your center cap crests pointing at the valve stems. Most people miss that.......I can say that MGATEPI's SC is one of the nicest that I have ever seen.

I hear your message loud and clear

I share your perspective and passion for 911's. Make no excuses for your passion...even if it might be described by some as an addiction!
Your SC looks spectacular! Congratulations!

Beautiful car & a fine example

Never apologize for bringing a car up to that level. I am sure you are happy with it. Don't make it so nice you don't want to drive it. Nothing like a Black 911

Looks just like one of my early 911s owned in previous years. I'm glad you found the car you wanted and brought it to the level you did...we only live once, so enjoy it.

BTW, doesn't everyone know the crest bottom points at the valve stem?

Thanks again Pelicans!

And yes it is a 930S steering wheel. IT feels great! Not original for an 83....but sometimes you just have too......

As for build pics, sadly I didnt take many. I will post the few I have once located!
