Is there any other way?
Hey Pelicans, I desperately need to change my dash but don't really know how to take out and replace my windshield. Is there any other way that someone has found out to take out the dash with out taking the windshield out? Dumb question I know but I thought I'd ask. Thanks guys.

Simple answer: for cars '86 & newer, one doesn't need to remove the windshield. Those dashes no longer used screws on the leading edge, and thus removing the glass doesn't increase access to anything.
For older 911, there's no way around it. The telltale sign is the single large defroster vent at the base of the windshield on the newer cars. If you use the search function on this site, you'll find many, many posts on this subject. |
Yeah I searched and found alot of stuff but I just thought I'd ask. Thanks dw1. BTW I have a 82 SC

hmmmm.....
I also have an '82, I took the dash out without having to take the windshield out. The only thing (or items ) I noticed, were the screws that (pressumably) were there to help keep the leather cover (or vynl on some other 911's) tacked down. I'm no pro, but so far it's OK. Iwould imagine when it's time to put in the new dash (which I'm replacing with the OE leather & I mean real leather cover to OE specs which I had) I will then be confronted as to whether it will be necessary to remove the windshield?? Hmmmm.... I wonder? I f you're around in the future (when. maybe 1 month) I'll tell you how it goes. BTW, I'm very picky and finicky as to how things look, they gotta be really close if not perfect to OE (no exceptions) SmileWavy
