How many members 911's running

Just wondered as every time I log in someone else is looking for help

Both Rennlist and Pelican attract DIY types, and I think that's to be expected. These cars are fantastic but require a bit of TLC to keep 'em that way :).

It is nice to have people who like to DIY on this board so that way when something does go wrong hopefully someone has had that same issue and knows how / what they did to fix it or know some good ways to approach solving the problem.

I honestly don't know what I would do if my cars ran 100%. Tweaking the car I think is as much fun (and stressfull) as is a good day at the track!

the 3.0 carrera is running

the 71 is in bits five years and counting

Runs and on the road but never really 100%........I dont think I would be happy if it was............I dont think there is such a thing as 100% AND a driver.

Monza_dh 10-01-2008 05:16 AM

you may want to change it to Running "99%" Any 20 yr old car has at least a 1% of an issue...

jtfreels 10-01-2008 06:07 AM

I had to be the first non runner :), I mean it actually runs..... for about 2 minutes. But can I change my vote in a couple of days?

"Running but has issues"

I took the '66 out last night for a backroad blast and it ran flawlessly. Took it out this morning for an early morning (04:30) blast to work and it died 100 feet out of the driveway. I'm pretty sure this particular "issue" is crap in the fuel tank. This is the 2nd time it's died on the road, so the tank's coming out this weekend.

For a 42 y/o car, the old girl has relatively few issues and most involve upgrades rather than repairs.

Damn somebody had to go an ask! Ha!! Good thread..

I actually fall into several categories depending upon which car we're talking about

- Running but has issues.. nice 78 Targa, sorting CIS (For Sale when done)
- Not running need some dedicated time to put it back together (930)
- No its a basket case... 73 S (R-Gruppe Ho)
- When will you start the Restoration? 58A (outlaw)

Ok, so I borrow one of my buddies 911 to keep in practice.. they drop by and say it's making a noise or something.. and I keep it a week + to diagnose & fix. What are friends for? :D

If you don't address issues right away, a backlog begins. Big backlog = basket case.

ErVikingo 10-01-2008 07:38 AM

except for the A/C, everything is perfect but I'm looking for something to fix or improve.

My car runs great and I would not hesitate to hop in and drive anywhere. However I have a list of things I want to do in the coming months. I plan to replace the fuel pump, replace the flywheel sensors, rebuild the pedal cluster and a few other projects. Just standard preventative maintenance on a 23 year old car with 129,000 miles.

I will be driving to Keystone Colorado next Summer for PCA Parade.

I love it when the Brit and Aussie Pelicanites refer to ther cars being in "bits" and not "parts" As in, ooooh, that unfortunate incident may well scatter "bits" all over the track - Sir Nigel! SmileWavy:);)

unclebilly 10-01-2008 10:37 AM

How about 1 running, one runs but has a vaccum leak and 2 are broken...

afterburn 549 10-01-2008 11:01 AM

Mine is running 100% But....I have projects or work list that will never end as it keeps evolvinghttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1222887596.jpg

The options above are pretty much black and white - owning an old 911 ain't...

You need some more options, like "my car was running great but it's voluntarily off the road"...i.e., to paint it, to upgrade or freshen the engine, etc...

If you had asked me last week, the answer would have been 'no' :(

But since you asked today, the answer is "YES!!! wooo hooooo" :)

afterburn 549 10-01-2008 11:24 AM

I am thnking a to do list does not count............kind a like a UHIH. It was never finished, came with a log book of stuff to be done will be retired or boned out with a bunch of stuff to be done LOL

Steve Viegas 10-01-2008 12:47 PM

Not sure how to answer...Running well enough that my wife took it to work today, but I still can not get it to rev above 5200. I guess that is running with issues.
