Need help, what engine is this?

There is a 79 targa for sale, and i went to check it out, the owner didn't have much of any information on the car.

I manage to get the engine number and vin number to see if the car is what its suppose to be. Would greatly appreciate the help if somebody could let me know what they mean.

engine number: 6590418
VIN number: 9119211016

The car looks to be repainted, piss poor job, the orginal color i think is red and it has black interior. 5spd. mileage is 112571 and the car has seen better days.

Thanks

Thanks guys, looks like everything is correct. I hope to see the vehicle a second time this weekend and go from there.

Tony has a minor typo:
The "consecutive Serial Number" is 1016 and not 11016.
I agree with all the other.
This is a VERY common error so study the paperwork carefully.

try a 1971 911T Targa that was:
9111111111
How many ones is that?
Add a misplaced '2' and you can see the problem.

I have a '67 912 with title VIN "460882753177" where all the actual VIN numbers are 460882 and the title cleark tab key added the mis-stated mileage? 753177 to the VIN. Not worth fixing with a title bond. While rusty salvage I think it actually has the 95K showing.

Best,
Grady

Yep, I added an extra 1(one) at the beginning of the sequence number, and made it a five digit number instead of the four digit number that it should have been. 11016 should read 1016. Tony.
