I think the top speed for the SC is supposed to be about 145.

My old '88 would top out at redline in 5th which was a bit over 150.

You have to go by the gearing/rpm/tire size calcs or a GPS because at that speed, most speedometers are off by 10-15 mph.

I've hit redline in 5th a couple times in my 87.
The last 5 miles-an-hour takes a while...

I had the stock 225/50-16s on it at the time. Anybody want to calculate an accurate speed for 5th in a G50 car at 6250 rpm?

P.O. proudly provided an official clocking affidavit from when the beast was in Italy. ('79 SC euro-146.47mph) at a time when the tires were not so low profile. Impressive for peeing contests but I think my personal all time blistering burst of speed was in fourth and about 105. At the time I felt properly "sporting, dashing and wild" until my overly active imagination kicked in. (visions of rocks, errant kids in road, deer leaping out, 29 year old suspension parts vaporizing etc.)
I love the handling, enjoy the acceleration andf grin every time I drive it, but find a buck and a half speed capability in the same cartegory as the ability to ingest 75 Nathan's hotdogs....somewhat interesting, but WHY would you do it?

I ran out of gear at 143mph (GPS datalogger) at California Speedway. This was of course during a race. It was more than a handful because the lack of a rear wing to keep the backend down.

Around 6100 rpms in 5th, or just over 150mph this spring in my 144K mile (no rebuilds yet) Euro '84. Ran out of balls and super-straight autobahn before the car ran out of go.

With tail and front spoiler, dead stable, other than the noise, it wasn't much different than 75mph.

Impressive that it's obviously still making very near to new stock HP, and that was with a cat bypass and Fabspeed muffler before the SW chip. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you build a car.

His signature line says "2003 RUF RTurbo". It will go 200 if everything is right but I think you will need a little more then 5 miles.

I visited RUF in December of 2005 and they took me for a little ride in their new RT12. The quote of the day was, "We must go before the roads freeze..."
As we were going down this winding 80km limit road I remember looking over at the speedo and seeing 260kmh (160mph) as he hit the gas and it felt like I was being smacked by the seat. 200 wouldn't be a problem.

Are you still cool if you get out of the car giggling like a school girl?

Here. This is from a spreadsheet that I created when I had my '88. Should be the same for you. So I guess that 6250 is about 151.2.

I'm not sure exactly what my rpm where when I let off. Somewhere around 6150-6350 which is as accurate a glance as I was willing to make at that speed.

6200 150.0
soft redline
6300 152.4
6400 154.8
6500 157.2
Rev limiter.
