Throttle linkage problem, too short?

Hello Porsche folks,

You should remember me from Clown College 3.2. The engine is back in and
I had my share of problems. After cleaning up the Cocker Spaniels and replacing
the outer ring gear and throttle linkage mechanism on the trans I noticed that the
throttle linkage from the throttle body to the trans was broken. It was the one
that came with the 3.2. I still had the one from the 2.7 so I put it on, in fact it
is even longer than the one that came with the 3.2. My problem is that the throttle
linkage does not allow the throttle body linkage to bottom out on its stop, making
me think this would make it idle at about two thousand rmp. Again, my experince is
mainly with water cooled vw's. If this was a vw, I'd be in trouble. Is this normal and
if not do I try to extend the linkage some how. Any way when I put the engine back
I naturally lowered the 8 pined plug outside the engine compartment Hence, I had
to partially had to re drop the engine. Do I dare cut out the old wiring harness where
it is obviouly redundant. It's a rats nest and looks like Cocker droppings.
Any help would be appreciated. Regards p930man:confused:
