Anyone know on what engine this ignition distributor belongs?

I found this in one of my parts boxes. 0 231 169 008. I've looked though all the references I can find including the Bosch Ignition catalog, and can't find anything. Maybe for a Euro engine? The range of neighboring numbers is around a '71 - '73. Takes a vacuum retard pot, which I have, it's just not mounted in the photo.

I post the photo just so someone doesn't ask, "Are you sure that's an 8 and not a 6?"

Thanks for any clues.......

Thanks to all that responded....

After looking again at the little spec book for the '72 '73 models, I found a line I missed earlier :o ; it shows the 008 as starting with the '73 T, and says they can be installed in the '72 as well, in place of the 003. The '72 E shows an 004, with the '73 E using the 009.

Thanks again for the replies.

I use 0.231.184.004

didn't know it came on '72E.

I thought it was only used on '74-'76 Euro Carrera and 2.7 RS, '73 Carrera.

I set 10 deg initial BTDC and it totals at 35 deg. Works great for my street engine.

It costs brand new $300 at www.********.com
Pelican Parts will match any price. Comes new with cap and non-rev-limiting rotor.

advance curve on p48 of '72,'73 Tech Spec book

ie:
this thread has Warren and Sherwood on distributors

According to the Bosch Ignition catalog, the 231.184.001 is the distributor specified for the '77S. The 231.184.004 is specified for the '74 and '75 2.7 Carrera. The '72 E uses a 231.169.004. Notice the difference in the middle three digits.
