Ignition Wire Resistance
I just checked two of the six ignition wires on my '86 and each measured 8,300 ohms from the plug end connector to the distributor end connector. My Bentley manual says the correct value is 3,000 ohms and to replace the wires if they exceed this value. Is that correct? The wires are Magnecor.

factory wires are steel core and the wire itself has no resistance. the plug connectors are around 3K and the cap connectors are 1K. call magnacore for their ohm rating. no idea about those.

Thanks for the information. Do you think that the 3k to 4k ohm resistance is important for optimum operation of the 3.2L DME ignition system? If so, I will buy new wires. By the way, I purchased the Magnecor wires here, but I don't really care what Magnecor thinks the resistance should be, just Porsche.
