Odd ticking noise from under dash?

Have an '83SC, when approaching a stop I hear this ticking or clicking from under the dash, thuoght it was the speedo cable, found out quiciky it doesn't have one. Ruled out any fans as well. It is a very faint sound but nuntheless bothersom to me, until I identify it. I do have a working clock, but once the car comes to a full stop so does the noise. It is deffinetly comming from the center gauge area, it is not an external noise. It does have a working speedo but I think they are not mechanical in nature, could be wrong.

OK, O2 sensor clicking. I wondered.

Oh, for those who have a slight tick every second or so, engine on/off that's your clock.

Billy, thanks I guess that answered that, once again I thought I was the only one with that problem, when will I learn to search fisrt? I was actually going to ask if it could have been the fuel sender in the tank, kinda sounded like that, well thanks for the answer. I'll have to go back and re-read to see how to remedy and still have a trip odo and speedo, I think I can do w/o the 02 sensor. "I think"
