Engine type 911/97

Is there a web site with a listing of engine types/numbers. I'm looking at a '74 2.7 CIS engine stamped 911/97, is this correct for that that year? Is it a 911S or 911?

Would I assume that the long block engine would be the same from manual to sporto. Would the end of the crank or mating surface of the case be the same on both? Any problem of using this engine from a sporto in a manual car?
