Help with cert of authenticity

Hi guys
several years ago I asked a question about the cert of authenticity you can get for your car. Well I Never got a good answer on one thing. Please help. my car is a 1974 911S sunroof coupe, pretty well equiped. One thing on the cert confuses me, under "optional equipment" it says "California Equipment". What is that? The car was bought new in San Jose. Alot of the replys felt that it was some form of smog control. I was under the impression that the 1974 cars country wide didn't have anything maybe I'm wrong. My car has nothing on it in the way of smog equipment and used to pass fine before it became exempt. What was " California Equipment" please help me out.

All cars in the US in 1974 had some form of smog equipment.
