AC "Snap" through speakers

I have an 84 Targa.

With the AC on there is an audible "snap" that I can hear through the speakers when the compressor clutch disengages. Not when it engages. The loudness is not related to the volume on the radio. I installed the stereo and amp a couple years ago and there is no correlation between the installation and the noise starting; I noted this for the first time this spring, though I use the AC a lot, all year long.

No issues with the ground for either the amp (direct to chassis, same location as main ground by battery) or with the radio. Source for low amp radio power is per factory, good connections, soldered. Source for amp power is fused battery connection with sufficiently large wire and fuse.

No modifications that I am aware of to AC wiring and I have been pretty well through the entire car looking for bad wiring, removed old "alarm" and cleaned all the PO "modifications"

Thoughts?

Karl

Figured after no responses at all in a couple of months might be worth a bump.

i know on old mercedes's theres a copper tab in the front left wheel bearing to stop static buildup interfering with the radio, is their similar on a 911?
