Changing the master cylinder

It was just a simple little job! Shouldn't take more than 1hr!
I know the threads aren't frozen because i had it out when i did the pedal cluster rebuild.
Murphys law again.
Even with the new flair nut spanners, i managed to strip the edges off of a flair nut.
Fortunately, i was able to loosten the other end up & remove the m/s with 1 hose still attatched.
Now i have to wait till next week when the stores are open, to have a new brake pipe made.
Why?why?why?

Is anyone using silicon fluid?
I'me thinking of removing the calipers for a clean & paint. Just checking the pistons for movement. May as well throw is some new seals while they are off.
My brake guru suggested using the silicon fluid. Will it fry the seals?
Car is a '74 middie.
Cheers, Col.

Col,
In a humid environment for a car that is displayed more than it is driven, the silicone fluid has advantages. It doesn't absorb moisture, so you don't have to bleed them as often. Porsche doesn't recommend it because it absorbs air, which can lead to a soft pedal.
The two fluids are not compatible, so the old fluid must be purged and all soft goods should be replaced.
I switched my show-car over 10 years ago and have not touched it since. before that, I was always rebuilding calipers. Once bled a couple of times, the pedal is firm.
I will not use it on a track car or daily driver.
Lyn

Thanks Lyn,
I was looking through the forums, & the general consensis is to use 'blue' .
It seems to work ok with the factory seals.
Cheers, Col.
