914/6 conversion help..separating 3.2l engine from 915 tranny

I'm fired back up to continue my 914-6 project. I'm getting ready to mate my 901 tranny to my 3.2l carrera engine. First step for me is to remove the 915 tranny that is currently mated to it. I've removed the 4 bolts and starter motor but the tranny only moves back about 1/8" or less. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance...Jim

The factory manual? :D (Hi Jim)

Don't you need to release the pressure on the pressure plate with bolts and standoffs? I know that's what's needed on my 911/01.

I believe you'll need standoffs about 3/4" tall and bolts to go through them to release the pressure then they slaide apart.

Others will surely correct me soon...

turn the throw out bearing there is a natch to release the bearing from the fork, Kevin

I think you have to pull the omega spring and throwout arm to allow the clutch fork to release from the throwout bearing.

There ya go. That's the piece I was missing. You may be able to turn it with the pressure on but I think they recommend relieving the pressure. Not sure in a 915 though... those are the new ones. :D
