I had a problem uploading the photos. As you can see there is a standard rear bumper pad. The two smaller objects are replacement pads which use the existing holes and mounting hardware. The stock pad weights 7.3 pounds compared to 1.1 pounds for the replacement. Feedback |

Thinking of making some of these. They would imo look much better that the oem pads and would not require and modifications.

Bumper Pad
The license plate lights will used a product called Lite Bolts, which have a light source built into a bolt. These would be included with the pads along with the necessary electrical connectors.
The idea is to get rid of the large pads but at the same time be able to return the car to original if one wants to do so. I wanted to clean up the rear bumper as much as possible. The pads can also be painted to match the body color. There will also be a replacement for the smaller Euro pads. |

I'd put more bevel on the edges, so they're more streamlined. Also, I'd consider making them hollow (so they look like the letter "O", which would give them some definition while loosing weight. Finally, I'd make them narrow (Euro style).
Otherwise, go for it. |
Bumper Pad
The back side has been milled out as much as possible and still have enough stiffness to stay flat. The Euro bumper has a different bolt pattern and is about half the size.
The advantage to these pads is you can always go back to stock since everything is bolt on. They can be painted to match the color of the car The plan is to produce them with the US version coming first. The time frame looks like two to three weeks and we will stick with the aluminum, T-6061, which could also be anodized to match the trim but that would be on a special order basis because of the polish and finish work required to prep the surface for anodizing . The standard finish would be powder coated in a black wrinkle finish and the wrinkle is very fine which looks almost like the stock pad. I will be contacting our Host to see if they have a interest in stocking them. I hope to have a picture posted today showing the pads mounted on a bumper. I can not use my own car because I have a Euro rear bumper> Go figure |

I also like the idea of tapering the protruding ends of them like the factory anchors; they are a bit too squarish now. Are these rubber-coated at all, or just a solid block of AL?

Bumper pad
I was able to upload a picture of the pad bolted to a extra bumper I have. The bumper that is on my car is a Euro model and the holes do not line up. I wanted to compare it to the OEM pad. The pad in the picture is a earlier version. The latest pad is .375 inches shorter and tomorrow a "Euro" bumper pad will be completed. I have also increased the bevel on the new version.
Weight is now under 1 pound for the Acetal including the studs and under 2 pounds for the aluminum. A reduction of 12 to 14 pounds. I have not weight of the euro version yet I will take some photos of them on my car as soon as possible. They are approx half the size of the pads in the last picture. I have been using Acetal, I hope I spelled it correctly, and aluminum. The aluminum is working out the best and cheapest |
