Problems with Rev Counter With MSD ??

HI,

Just wondering is my Tach Clock not working because of my MSD unit,
Im not sure if it was working before hand as when i got the car i took it all apart for a rebuild.
I have the following installed:
MSD 6AL
The Blaster Coil
MSD's Tach Adapter
and a Pertronix thing to replace the points,

I rang MSD for to confirm their wiring diagrams and so far the starts no problem !
But i have been informed that "some wire " should have gone to the rev counter,
Is this correct ???
Im still no wiser !!:confused::confused:

Sorry its a 1975 Targa.....

Anyone on this ?? Have i to have a wire coming from the msd to the Rev Counter ??

MSD 6AL usually do not work with the Tach..

The Tach will need to be re-calibrated... www.nhspeedometer.com

I have sent 2 of my tachs already to them for re-calibration when I installed MSD 6AL.

usually guys do the msd install with a good tach. If the tach screws up after install guys get the msd tach adaptor and fixeroo. Maybe borrow a Bosch or Permatune unit and flip w/msd for test.

I even has radio noise with resistor spark plugs. The msd noise unit fixed that.

I found on a 71 that my tach started working fine when I removed the adapter...try that.

Emmm Intresting.. Could someone tell me which way they wired up their units ??

How does the signal get from the MSD to the Rev Counter at the Dash ??
I think i might be missing some wire/signal here,
What i have is the ALWAYS ON POWER coming from the starter to the BIG RED wire on the 6AL unit,
Then the small red on the same unit i have switched power, (comes on with key)
Then to the TACH Adapter and to pertronix, i rang MSD for this bit but in only took minutes to wire up,Red to red / white to white, and then the pertronix branched into these, i forget their colours, so im not sure how the rev counter would get a reading from my set -up....

Am i at fault here ????

Try leaving the adapter out of the equation and just connecting the purple/black signal wire from your tach to the coil - post or to the MSD box white wire and see if either of those work for you.

member Raynald from Canada drew this up a few years ago

AHhhhh im mising that MAUVE TACH wire, sure it must be there somewhere...
I dont think there is nothing special with the red wire connection coming from the OLD CDI PLUG i think its only switched power....
