If you're selling it, better market for year correct colors.
Look at Paintscratch.com choose 1982, Porsche, 911. Good selection. Rosewood is similar to Quartz Gray... good selection. |

Looks like by 1982, all of the funky 70s colors were pretty much gone. IMO, Royal Blue will give you the highest resale value. When you go to advertise your car on places like eBay, with a common car like an SC, it's best to have it a color which will stand out, to differentiate it from all of the other red, black and white ones. With a color like Royal Blue, you'll find a buyer who falls in love with it, and your car will be the only one to choose from. There was a low mileage 928 featured in this month's excellence magazine, done in Royal Blue (aka Arrow Blue), it's a great color! |

Has anyone heard of a non metallic gray 911 sc? maybe carrera ? I saw one go on ebay once and I think the guy selling it said it was original color? It was very unique looking. It was a targa too. I kinda fell in love with it. maybe i will paint my sc that color some day..
it was kind of like the color of this titty.. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2014/...232139.jpg?v=0 |
Thanks for all the great input. I really like the Quartz Grey Metallic, but it was not available in '82. Platinum Grey Metallic was, tho, and after searching for pictures, it looks similar - a classy understated warm type of silver.

Geoff,
If youa re interested in the period correctness, then I should tell you that the Ruby Red was only offered the in 83 and 84, as far as teh 80's go. Someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. |
Shane,
Yes, you're right about Ruby Red Metallic - it started in '83 (not sure how long it was offered) it was not offered in '82 so I would be a year off. Geoff |
