Why should you carry a fire exstingisher?

This was certainly not "oil" dripping on the heat exchangers like the ebay ad states. Fuel is much more likely. How does it end up there? With old fuel lines and quick / home made fixes (often using hose clamps etc.). If your 911 is well maintained it is not very likely it will go up in a ball of flames. Just my two cents ...

An in-car fire extinguisher probably wouldn't stop that kind of fire. If my car goes up like that I'll let it burn and take the insurance cheque....I have an acquaintance with a 996 turbo that had $60,000 in fire damage that the insurance company wouldn't write off after he stopped the fire. Imagine the discount he has to give on that car when he sells it. Not to mention the dealer did a crappy job repairing it.

I agree. When I got my 76 Targa, someone had put regular fuel line and clamps(not the high pressure rated stuff) on it. When I started it you could actually watch the line expand like a party balloon

That makes me cringe that's how I purchased my 73 back in the day. It was a fun project I mean uh yeah it was fun...

Now I always carry 2 fire extinguishers. 1 Jumbo and 1 small Halon, Im not messing around anymore!
