Here's a tech article from Pelican that may help. It's about re-keying, which involves removing the lock mechanism.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/mult_lock_rekey/mult_lock_rekey.htm

To re-key mine, I removed them and had a locksmith do it. Doesn't cost much and he had an assortment of parts necessary for something I'll probably never do again.

Good luck!

What are you referring to when you state lock post repair? Be a little more clear and give us a little more info than the advice will come!

Are you looking for the door post at the rear of the door opening that has the latch on it? Or are you looking for the front door post that has the hinges? Are you looking for help with rust repair or is it something else?

TC.

Its actually not too bad of a repair but once you get into it I would almost guarantee there is more rust to repair than you see know.

If you click the link in my signature you will see how I went about repairing that area. You will have to get into the outer rocker to do it right it's probably worth it also.

The lip on the quarter panel fender is spot welded to the lock post or striker plate. You can wire brush it off to see the spot welds you will need to drill. But again if your outer rocker is fine then you only need to remove as much as you need to repair just be careful when your working on the fender lip that is attached to the front face of the striker plate.

I have done it on 2 sides now on my 72 and it was the spot that was scaring me the most when I got into the project, however it really isn't too difficult at all.
