Fabspeed bypass cat and exhaust
I purchased the cat bypass from Fabspeed last year and have loved the sound my car has made with that and the stock muffler. I was looking on the site a few months ago and I saw that they had a muffler bypass pipe for $60 so i figured why not let me try it out.
When i saw the video on the site the car did not sound too loud, well when i put it on i was amazed. It was pretty loud in person but I must say it really sounds awesome. When driving normally you get that boxer rumble sound and when you get on it, the car sounds like it has a TON of power. Also when decelerating it gargles like a turbo, its really cool. I've grown to love it more n more everyday. Here is a video I had my buddy take that I entered my car in. I also have a video inside of me racing it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3jvTQWu7o0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K7i-Qkii5A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzFPBZf7Ir4

They are fun to play with but really no HP is to be gained by running open exhaust just the cool sound factor. For 60 bucks thats a great deal I could not even make that for 60 dollars

I've had mine for a few years now (Fabspeed Premuffler / Muffler Bypass), and I also run with Ben's 1-in / 1-out polished setup. I can get away with the bypass a few weeks a year, usually 2 in the spring, 2 in the fall.
Try it with a Cab, it's awesome. ![]() Agreed on the HP "gains", I've dyno'd stock, bypass / bypass, bursch, M&K, & so on, and have found they're all pretty close. Sound & weight are the reasons for me to modify unless you've got other mods to support with a more open exhaust.

Bypass
I run the same for track days and around town for a bit, it can become a little too much for day to day driving. Yes the sound is awesome!! Quick shot of me at Willow Springs.

I had one of those bypasses on, unfortunately they do not exit the tailpipe in the way that the stock mufflers tailpipe does. I have since installed an mkexhaust and a different fg bumper, and if i ever decide to put the muffler bypass on again, it wont be until i bring it to a muffler shop and have them bend it to the right angle. I'll never cut another bumper to accomodate a tailpipe.
Lots of fun though hitting redline in the 59th st bridge. Lincoln Tunnel is fun too, provided there isn't traffic!

Funny, I also have an '84 Cab, and mine exited just fine with the Fabspeed Cat Bypass & stock muffler, bypass & Bursch muffler, & Bypass & Bypass.
I DID seem to have some issues with the bypass & Ben's muffler, but a little loosening at the crossover pipe & exchanger side gave me enough room to put it in just fine.

Ya to be honest I feel like I lost power from the pipe. the car just its low end torque from lack of back pressure I'm thinking. Maybe when I go for PMO ITBs it will help for air flow.
