How to stop air flow from under the dash
Hello everyone. I have an 87 911 TL Cab and I have air coming out from under the dash on my legs, from the Drivers side and also the Passenger side. During the Summer I did not notice it so much but this morning it was cold and I really noticed it.
It does not matter how I move the levers on the dash it still blows air from outside, under the dash, when I am moving. It is not from the A/C or the Heater. Anything I might be able to do myself to fix this problem. Thanks for your time in reading and answering my post. Best regards, Booney1golf 87 Porsche 911 Turbo Look Cabriolet - Mid life enjoyment |
We'll need a PHD for this one...........subsrcibed!

Could be that your hood seal is letting in air. What kind of shape is it in?
Feel around your radio , light switch etc while driving. |
could also be that little clip that holds the cable sheath isn't doing its job and the lever can't close off the fresh air.
You will need to remove that cardbiard piece in the trunk below the windshield and watch the cable movement with someone else moving the levers and see if the flaps are closing. |

My Hood is completely shut. I think it is something like a valve or something is open and will not close even when I move the levers.
I will take the cardboard piece off on the firewall and have someone move the levers and see what I can see as it was suggested. I thought about just plugging the holes with something temporarily but I really like doing things right when feasible. Thanks to all of you for your time and responses. Without this forum I probably would not be able to keep my car. Best regards, Booney1golf 87 Porsche 911 Turbo Look Cabriolet - Mid Life Enjoyment!! |
Air leak
Booney,
My 84 Coupe has the same issue from the left driver's knee area, under the gas gauge. My hood seal is in great shape, but I'm suspecting that one of the many holes in the trunk area is causing that air leak. Can anyone confirm? TIA |
Hmmm. With no a/c, I'd pay good money to get some (cool/fresh) air coming in under the dash.
Please post when you find the source. |
I had a similar problem and found this thread:

I had the same problem in my 1970. I replaced the hood seal and all was good.
