back to points....Simple for someone who knows, impossible for me.
72 911t
We have are changing back to points from a crane 7000 which for one reason or another proved unreliable. The question is were do all these wires go? At this point the important part is getting the car on the road....the leaves are changing! What connects to the coil and what connects to the distributor? the wires are there and we have a diagram but we are doing something wrong with the first attempt. Any help is will be greatly appreciated. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1225240421.jpg |
This drawing shows the factory wiring:
http://www.pelicanparts.com/911/911_Parts/Electrical/911_electrical_1973_CIS_Part2.jpg The CDI (item 9 on drawing), Dizzy (item 5), and coil (item 6) are in the lower 1/3 of the drawing. Do yourself a favor and change any ground wires to BROWN. Assuming you have the Bosch (or Permatune) CDI and factory wire colors, the drawing shows the following: Black/purple - To points (the other end of this wire is your tach). Black - One end to points, other end to Terminal "C" of your CDI. Blue/Yellow - One end to Terminal #15 of your coil, the other end to Terminal "A" of your CDI. Red - Fuse #1 in Engine room to Terminal "B" on your CDI. Brown - One end is always ground. Other ends go to Terminal #1 on Coil and Termonal "D" of CDI. |
Thank you for the quick reply HarryD! I'll get out there later today and see how it goes.
