updating earlt seat belts cont.
I struggled with whether to update seatbelts in a 71T and how. I chose to install a new standard shoulder belt rather than going to the race belts. The front is pretty staightforward but the retractor was something that I had to figure out. Following are the pics
here is the belt before it went in. ![]() I then had to locate thebolt location behind the side panel. I'd like to thank Scott Ross for this ![]() ![]() Before installing belt in the the boss hole You have to remove the well bolt from the outside well. ![]()

Ed,
I did the same belt "upgrade" on my '70. It had safety harnesses in it and, when I converted it from track to street use, I decided that stock belts would better suit its new use. Like you, I mounted one end of the front belts at the same threaded hole and then coated the exterior and the other end to the seat mount. I was able to source a stock receiver mount from a newer, wrecked tub and attached it onto the tunnel with bolts and nylock nuts. I also upgraded the quarter panels to the newer style ones with the belt slot. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
