Clutch Release Vibration - 82SC

Moving from a full stop with the car in 1st, I get a vibration/shuddering of the shift lever as I release the clutch. I don't feel any vibration in the clutch pedal itself and I can hold the gear shift lever in place without feeling a strong vibration or pull. However, it is always noisy whether I'm holding the shift lever or not and if you let go of the shift lever, it will bounce around quite a bit. Anyone have experience with this? I did a search of the forum but couldn't find any posts on it. I bought the car 5 years ago and don't know whether the clutch is original or not. Other than this, the clutch seems to be doing its job just fine and I don't see any noise or vibration problems in the other gears.

Ralph

Ton's of threads on this one, do a search. The most common issues seem to be #1, clutch adjustment, then cable, helper spring and bushings. #2, worn engine and transmission mounts, #3, clutch life reaching it's end or oil on the disc itself. The first 2 are inexpensive , relativly simple fixes, both generally need replacement in an older porsche regardless. For less than $400 tou can do the first 2 in an afternoon yourself, they certainly helped my situation (85%) but hasn't corrected it 100%, the new clutch will come in the spring, unfortunate for me I will have to pay someone else to do that one.
