Finally got my car on the scale today
So I finally took my car to get it weighed since I've reached a satisfactory point in its weight loss/diet program. I went to Trackstar Racing in Mountain View CA, and the proprietor, Steve, was very helpful and knowledgeable; highly recommended for suspension work, alignment, corner balance etc.
In any event, the car is a G50 Carrera 3.2 (1987) and I took all the loose stuff out of the car including tools, jack, spare etc. Removed parts/lightweight stuff: rear bumper guards MA Shaw ducktail all of the AC system except for what's in the smuggler's box engine compartment blower and auto heat center console back seats interior sound deadening perlon carpets non-foglight front valence electric flag mirrors removed and replaced with 935 ones ssi's and 2-in 2-out muffler RSA door panels Recaro pole position seat with aluminum brackets on driver's side only. lightweight dry cell battery cruise control Still has: A CD player and two speakers Standard US impact bumpers minus rear guards whatever that thing in the smuggler's box is; I haven't had the chance to remove it yet. one rear seatbelt sound pad in engine compt electric windows steel and glass everything The car was measured wet, with just under 3/4 tank of gas. The number? 2553 pounds, pretty close to my estimate of 2500-2600lbs Derek

Very nice looking car and a good weight for a Carrera. My '73 weighs in around 2150 lbs wet...unfortunately, it's driver could use a bit of weight reduction.

Sweet car Derek, I'm planning on putting my 81 SC RoW on a diet too, however I'm gonna have it weighed first to see the difference. Dont know wheather or not to replace my fenders with fiberglass yet, I could go all out lightweight and do fiberglass doors, trunk, engine lid, and lexan windows..but its all still up in the air.
