Post Footwell Blowers

Got a demist problem with my 88 Carrera. Basically the passenger side (Left on my RHD drive car) doesn't clear very well. Traced it last night (I think) to the footwell blower motor. That side is only getting about 5 volts (using an analogue meter so not precise) whilst the other is getting 12. Given that the 911 heating is not sided I can easily splice a feed from the 'good' side to feed the 'bad' side but does anyone know the source of the feed so that I can trace the actual problem?

I've got the Bentley manual but it shows a resistor, which could be the problem, that I don't appear to have. Could teh resistor be US only or could my car have been previously altered? There is evidence of work in that area (loose fittings etc)

Thanks for any help

Roy M
