removing rockers on mid year?

I've removed the pass. rocker for installation of oil lines. I like the look, but would like to see some pictures of a narrow body mid year without the side rockers on. I've looked thru my collection of pictures and have been unable to find any.

I would plan on cutting the jack tubes and probably remove the screw tabs as well, then paint the pan portion black.

Please post any pictures of mid years without rockers.

~Chris

Bump. I'd be curious if anybody has any photos of a true narrow bodied (i.e. no Carrera flares) impact bumper car w/o the rockers.

Thanks!

ran my car for a while without them...

but put them back on once I lowered it (at that time I was into off-roading up in the snowy mountain forest roads!! ). I am thinking about finishing the rocker area off before painting, running again without them.

Thanks! I really like the clean look. I wasn't sure how I'd like it with all the black trim front and back, but I don't think looks like it's missing anything at all.

Would love to see more pics once you lower it.

Doug,

I like it too..........I've been playing with this in my mind for my '85. I like the clean retro look. Wowzer's right though. A duck, roll bar, Yellowbird bumpers.

Whoa......easy Hondo.

They just look better without rockers IMO. I know mine is another fat fender car, but the efect is the same on the narrow bodies. Remember that the old rockerless cars (ie pre-74) were all narrow (except the specials).

I don't do photos, so can't help you there, but my '83 SC is lowered moderately, so removal of the rocker panels doesn't give it the milk-stool look, and frankly, I particularly like the "industrial" look of the exposed oil lines on the right side. Sort of like the difference between modern cars where the all-plastic engine compartment could be a top-loading washing machine, versus the older ones that display all the greasy bits.

Well I guess I am alone on this one....I like the hidden oil lines, clean look of the rockers.

IMHO: Keep the rockers if you keep the impact bumpers. It looks more complete.
