Blocking Bow Tie Vent Under Dash - Question
I've capped the bow tie vent in order to increase flow through the dash vents.
It appears that the bow tie is fed directly from the AC-only plenum in the area next to the evaporator. Is is it also fed by the heaters? Or, does the heat exit undert the dash by other vents [or at all]? The manual is weak in its description. thanks todd 89 Targa |
No. Bowtie is AC only.
There are other vents for heat/fresh air. |
Heat comes from the footwells - don't believe there are underdash vents

Thanks for the confirm. Looked like the Bow Tie tube went straight to the Evaporator.

I doubled airflow to the center by blocking the long runs to the side vents used only for A/C with very marginal cooling effect.
Removed the ductwork on top the evaporator and blocked the side exit to the driver side vent tube. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226160345.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226160364.jpg Then under the dash I removed the long hose to the passenger side vent. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226160428.jpg Chopped it into pieces and painted it black. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1226160466.jpg |
Changed that passenger side vent routing to exit center under the dash with a three inch hose and a piece of PVC transition on the end painted black.

No need for spendy larger air flow fans in the evaporator box. Plus the passenger dollies like the cold airflow at their knees. Haha its directable! |
