First, hope your OK. Could've been much worse. The car can be repaired. Sorry, I can't help with a shop in San Diego. Colorado, yes.

Oh man i saw the title and freaked! Your lucky though, your fender took all the impact. These cars are built like tanks. I had a similar situation. A dent like that is salvageable. They reshape the fender and repaint. Your in luck, thank the germans for those steel fenders. Glad your ok.

4flyboy. BINGO!!! I was in the exit only lane staying back until the broken line turned solid and had just started to pull off the road and my spidey senses started tingling. I hit the brakes right when his non-turn-signal using late decision to exit tank quickly came into my lane. Like I said no-one was hurt but I was P.O.d ( still am kind of.)

Have the body shop remove the fender and pound out the dent. Don't let them talk you into a new non galvanized fender.

If they don't want to pound out the dent, find a shop that will pound out the dent.

Yeah Crusty,

That Spidey sense comes in handy in a Porsche.

I cut my teeth when I was younger riding a motorcycle in Los Angeles and I use the same sensibility driving my 911. Sometimes it isn't enough.

I'd like to see a special license for vehicles over a certain size/weight and a total cell phone ban while driving . I'm off on a rant.

Glad you're o.k. the car can be repaired. Tough little machines aren't they?

Scott

Lightly hit it with a rubber mallet and some rubbing compound. It might come out, as I don't see any sharp creases. I know the old "it'll buff out" joke, but in some cases . . . it will . . .

Glad no one was hurt, they are tough machines, as others have said, let them pound it out and keep the galvanized fender...

Controlled distraction - do you have other pics of your garage interior with that awesome Martini stripe -- details on THAT would be appreciated.

Tom

I always think of this quote when hear accident stories... "Marty, he's in a '46 Ford. We're in a DeLorean. He'd rip through us like we were tinfoil."

1968 Cayman, the paint is fractured all along the top of the dent, I am afraid it is creased.

Cell phone yapping, cappuccino drinking tank cammanders...

Just the other day, one wasn't paying attention (something new?), hit a flagger in a construction zone and nailed a gravel truck in the side. How could you miss it?

I was wondering why the traffic helicopter was hovering overhead.

Glad you're ok; the construction worker wasn't as lucky.

Actually, that will bump out. I'd most likely remove the headlight bucket and weld it back in after the metal work, but a bodyshop won't do that I suspect. In the long run, it's less work. I've done it, I know. It needs to be painted.
