windshield washers no work

I've done a brief search and it seems that people have had problems where the headlight washer quits but not the windsheild washer system.
My windsheild washers won't work. but my headlamp ones do. I'm guessing that there are two pumps. If I pull back on my wiper lever they will start to move but no water. I filled up the tank and see that the headlamp washer works great.
Could it be electrical, in the steering column or the actual pump. I'm guessing that the wiper lever is OK if the wipers continue to move with no water, Where is the pump(s) located.
by the diagram which number should I check. It looks like the diagram shows either a non headlamp system and one with it. Or do I have all of this under my hood. It's a little confusing to me.

thanks,
se

If you hear the pump but no spray, then it might be items 10 and 11 which I believe are the one way valves so that the fluid doesn't drain back to the reservoir and take forever to refill the line. They get jammed with crap. Buy knew ones from Pelican. You may want to add some more tubing its kind of tight in there.

Yep. The elbow & the T that Hugh mentioned are usually the culprits. Just pull the 'out' line at the pump to confirm that it still works.

If the pump does not work, you need to replace 8. In the front, next to the battery. A ***** to get at. Had to take out the battery and still tight.

Sorry I can't replay sooner to my own thread but I finally got around to making it work.

Here's what I found. With the key on, I could pull back on the wiper and hear a pump pumping. (that's good) but no water.
I see in the diagram above that I have 3 pumps. 8, 17 , and 15.
17, for I think the headlight high power sprayer (which works)
8, the one making noise but no flow.,, found the input hose popped off. I'm guessing it was the input or else the battery compartment would have be soaked. (good thing)
but...pump 15 which is right under the little tank 13, had its power plug disconnected. Ahh ha. but why would I hear a pump if it were disconnected??? So it appears that it does not need to be powered... that pump 8 is the main one. Why I have the other (15) is beyond me.
Anyways, I think since the hose was off of it, the lines were empty, I filled up 2 more litres of water, then let the pump run and then I got water. Finally!!!
I left the other pump 15 power plugged in but tonight after work I'm going to disconnect it again and see if it works. I think it will because they worked before.

So why the 3rd pump? Why the other little tank, 13?
Was it a Porsche after thought.... I dunno but at least they work now.
If anyone knows, please let us all know.

Hi Porsche Owners,

My problem: I pull back on the windshield wiper level and not liquid or pump action. However, the wipers work fine. I checked the voltage at the motor plug and found 0 volt. Could the wiper switch in the steering column? Does anyone have the wiring diagram for a 1987 930?

Same problem with an '84 911.

Wipers work, motor replaced and checks good with direct 12v power. Is there something between the switch and the motor?
