price check 996 engine
I have a friend that converted a 996 into an electric car and he wants to sell the engine, it had a funny noise and the owner at prestige in san antonio told him that it was the timing belt that needed to be change. anybody have an idea of what this engine is worth? 2K? I have NO idea I think he would be happy with anything he can get out of it. Please let me know
Thanks |
What year, how many miles on the engine?
|
It is from a 99 with 70K (I think)
|
Actually, if it had fewer miles, I would be up for buying it for a transplant into the Boxster. If it's from a 99, it's a 3.4 liter (which are not as in demand as 3.6 liter engines). For that mileage, maybe $3-$4K. Depends on what the funny noise is.
Heck, I'd give him $2K for it, if he wants to move it quickly. |
sent you a PM.

We demand pics of this conversion!:) I would think that for any real range he would need to tow a trailer full of batteries.

If you search that auction site for 996 engine, it appears that is it already up for auction. Also, it says it has over 100K miles.
|
the ones with the updates usually go for $5-6K with no issues. This one with issues and high mileage? hmmmm,. maybe $3.5k?
|
Never mind, I just talked to the owner and somebody bouhgt it today for cheap and he is reselling it on e-bay.
Thanks for the input anyways |
