San Diego Auto Show, No Porsches
Just went to the SD auto show yesterday. After walking from end to end on the bottom floor, there was no Porsches or Lambos. Thought maybe they were upstairs, but no dice. There was a couple Porsches upstairs from Black Forest in the modified section. Maybe I just overlooked it?
By the way, it appears that the US and Japanese manufactures have a marketing group that travels with their presentation around the country, while Porsche counts on local dealers to man the auto shows. I haven't been to the show in a couple years, but I believe Pioneer was the last dealer I saw there. Maybe things have slowed down soooo much that the local dealers decided they didn't want to come? Happy New Years All!!! |

I have heard that Porsche & Lambo are among the few that are not going to be in Detroit this year as well. There were a few others that had pulled out, just don't recall off hand. So much for the Motor City, used to be a full house for the auto show.
I believe they are both plannin on being in Chicago though.

Car shows are are one of the areas that the manufacturers are cutting back on.
A few years ago it would have been unthinkable for any real car company to skip the Detroit car show. There will be lots missing next time around.

Indeed Porsche, Lambo and a few other high end brands have pulled out of Detroit show. Also, Chrysler hung their lighting grid and ran out of $$$. Literally waiting for bailout to finish the display. Sooo pitiful.

Well, I certainly miss seeing the new models. It was always nice to see and sit in one without the salesman clobering you.
Actually, don't feel bad for the Porsche sales guys, I think they are in a different world than most enthusiast. There's always a few exceptions, but Pioneer is notorious for jerk sales guys. |

SD show sucks, when Pioneer was there the cars were all locked so you couldn't sit in them anyway.
LA show is much better but probably not worth the drive either... |

Porsche didn't show up to the San Francisco show either. One of the best parts about Porsche coming is that they always bring free posters.

I went to the San Diego show this morning, I was done and outta' there in about an hour. No Porsche, no exotics at all. No inspiring or interesting displays at all. My son and I go to the LA show every year where Porsche usually has a great display in Petree Hall. IMO, its well worth the drive (especially now that my son is 16 and drove us). I remember going to the SD show 6-7 years ago when you couldn't get close to a Hummer, how times have changed, Hummer is deserted and its all about being green and great MPG...

Porsche was well represented at the LA Auto show. I have heard they pulled out of Detroit and will be only showing at major market cities.
