Adding a second oil temp gauge

Hi guys, I'm interested in adding a secondary oil temp gauge to monitor my engine. I will eventually be adding a CHT gauge as well, but wanted to start here so I could verify the readings I'm getting from my standard temp gauge. If I want to add a second oil temp sender to the car, where would be a good place to install it?

Interesting question.

If the new sensor were on the other side of either oil thermostat, you would know when the thermostat failed.

I don't know how to do this and I wouldn't drill any new holes that could leak.

This is probably not a question that comes up much, or at all. Or possibly I should be posting in the engine rebuilding forum. However, I did some investigating and found that a lot of people use oil filter sandwich plates that are specifically made for adding oil temp and pressure gauges:

Okay, cool! Great idea! Now to find one that will work with a 911 . I found this one on fleabay:

The listing says it fits a porsche 911, and comes with two adapters, one for M20x1.5 and one for 3/4-16 threads, however, I don't think the threading is correct. On BAT website it says the 911 uses 1"-12 which i presume means 1" diameter, 12 threads/inch, is that measurement, and my understanding of what that means, correct?

You can also use a hand held pyrometer to "shoot" the oil tank, lines, engine, etc......updating the stock snsor and gauge is the better idea over adding a sandwhich adapter. Just another spot for an oil leak.
