Question for wheelologists 17" or 18"

I've got an 87 911 and I am thinking about moving up from my 16" Fuchs. I wanted to know if there are any thoughts concerning going with 17" or 18". What considerations are there for a mostly street car?

Weight, tire availability (now and future determined by the trends), performance, looks, wheels available, cost, ect.

Thanks,

Greg

My two cents but I am somewhat interested in DE's.

15" 7&8 w Toyo 225/235 light weight, some gearing advantage.

16" 7&9 w any 205/245 good tire selection in track tires, 245's can be tough to find in touring tire, can get factory Turbo Fuchs, a little gearing advantage.

17" 7.5&9 with 225/255. Best tire selection. Stock height. Many have been happy w the Fuch copies at a good price point ( Roto Fox?)

18" few go there, if not the righ rim can make the disk brakes look small and out of balance to my eye. I think 225/265 is possible w some work.

With stock 16" Fuchs, setting the car at Euro hight makes a differance. Adding longer studs and spacers can make it look just right.

Check with the experts.

17s would be your best bet for a street car.
