Wheel Alignment Issues

Looking for advice for wheel alignment problems. I just purchased a 1986 Carrera from the original owner and needs two front tires and wheel alignment. The problem is no one in the area can align the car. Example Firestone, Goodyear, Nissan dealership, Sears, and goes on and on. The Pirelli P7000 Super Sport side walls are thick and are butted against the rim and the alignment tool will not fit between the two. No luck, I was avoiding in having to buy all new tires. Has anyone ever owned Perilli P7000 Super Sport or had similar issues?

Where are you located? Perhaps we can recommend a local shop. You want a shop that porsche experience, not an average alignment shop.

My first attempt was where local Porsche sends theirs (Goodyear) Mobile Al...Dean McCrary.

Unless there's something I'm missing with the tire mounting issue you mention, you could check your alignment (at least toe, camber, & ride height) at home with a ball of string, four jack stands, tape measure, and a carpenter's level.

If that's too big a dose of DIY, could you borrow a set of wheels & tires from a Pelican near Mobile for the purpose of alignment?
