Countdown to 84 Carrera RoW

Hey all! First, I'd like to thank everyone for the great posts in these forums! After almost a year of searching for my 1st Porsche, I have finally found what I was looking for. I have since sat and read post after post till the wee hours of the night. :) I am leaving from Michigan on Friday evening to drive to Maryland to pick her up. Counting the hours! Can't come fast enough! Here's one of the pics that I received from the PO. Any suggestions on what I should bring along? PO is replacing the belt for me, and I will have the old belt as a spare if necessary. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Cool. That looks like a nice car.

Check out the ROW thread posted recently. Lots of info on the cars and differences.

Sounds simple but one check that you should do before driving back is look at the tires. It's possible you will have snow to drive on/in. You DON'T want tires that aren;t up to the task.

If they are all season you should be fine. If not, it might be tricky on roads that have a bit of snow.
Good luck, be safe and be sure your cell phone stays charged.

Thanks Wayne, that's my main concern & worst part about the deal. Weather is supposed to be cold, but dry next weekend. I am hoping it stays that way, but being from Michigan, you know as well as I do it could change in a minute. Finally buying my first Porsche, and just have to drive it back & park it for the winter. Gonna be a long, painful few months. :)

Nice looking ride !! Congratulations and welcome to the forum! I would bring a laptop with internet so if something does happen you could post it and get a quick answer. As for having to park it for the winter..well.... just more time to do important familiarization stuff like looking it over inside all the compartments and underneath, addressing small issues, repairing bad wiring from P.O's stereo installs and such. Good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome! I also just picked up my first Porsche, a 84 cabrio. Lots of luck with the new venture!

Congrats! Lots travel and what to bring threads. Search with the key words "spares*trip" and you will see some threads. However, there are more that I remember, I'm just not up to speed on how to really get good search results.

That looks like a sweet car, man! I wanna see lots more photos! Well done and congrats!

Thanks for the input & links. Missed one of them, but I have gone through countless pages reading random posts as well as searches. I will also post more pics after I have the car. I have some that were e-mailed to me, but I will get some fresh pics over the weekend. Week seems to be dragin along... Ready for the weekend to get here! :)

Congrats! When did you pick it up? Have you had much time to drive her?

Gotta ask.

Is your user name anything to do with a band?

It seems I know it from somewhere.

Nope, actually started using it years ago from the Mindtrap game. Had to choose a user name for something, and just stuck with it.

I have No musical talent whatsoever, no matter what I claim after a few beers... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/beerchug.gif

I remember now. Mind Candy
It was Rudy's band from D & D on 97.1 Talk.

Have a great trip Mindtrap. I'm just down the road from you in Grand Haven if you need anything. I'll be waiting for those pictures!
